A Review by Ian Bayley
I have to say right from the start that I liked this book. It isn't a huge volume (40 pages) but it is very readable, contains lots of pictures, and does give a real feel for life on the Home Front.
The Home Front is a very broad subject with many books on individual aspects running into hundreds of pages. This book gives a basic guide to Britain at war and whilst it doesn't have the space to cover extensive detail it does cover a wide area and contains some nice pictures and period advertisements.
I'm often asked to suggest reading material for students who are studying the 'Home Front' at school. I would think that this would be an excellent choice. A general book, covering a wide area, at a very reasonable price. I've now got a copy on my bookshelf!
