Nancy Wake, Australian by birth, was working as a journalist in Paris when the second World War broke out. She managed to escape to England, and in 1943 was parachuted back into France with a million francs and instructions to organize the French resistance in her area. Soon she was virtually in charge of seven thousand men. Though she took every risk she was never caught, Her story is one of the most remarkable to have come out of the Second World War.
